Owen Lawn Care

We are locally owned and operated.

Owen Lawn Care is a locally owned and operated personalized lawn service company that will make your grass the envy of the neighborhood. With each lawn care visit our highly trained professionals will analyze your grass and landscape, identifying any existing or potential problems and report them to you.

Together we will design a personalized Lawn Care Program which will provide you a greener, thicker, weed free, and healthy lawn for you to enjoy.

If you have used a lawn fertilizing company in the past and were unhappy with the service and results, (or you got the feeling you were just another number on their corporate production quota) please give us a call, at (800) 724-6680.  You will be amazed at the difference between Owen Lawn Care and all the other franchised lawn care companies.

The Owen Lawn Care formula for a thicker, greener lawn this season:

  1. SPRING - A granular fertilizer along with a pre-emergent crabgrass control is applied to your lawn to prevent the germination of crabgrass and other annual grassy weeds while promoting an early spring green-up.
  2. EARLY SUMMER - A broadleaf weed control and slow release fertilizer treatment is applied to control early summer germinating weeds - keeps your grass green, weed free, and your lawn healthy.
  3. SUMMER - A slow release fertilizer will help feed and maintain the lawn's overall health and vigor. (A spot treatment of broadleaf weed control will be used if needed).
  4. EARLY FALL - A broadleaf weed control and slow release fertilizer treatment is applied for early fall germinating weeds and to promote a green lush lawn.
  5. LATE FALL - A granular fertilizer is applied to strengthen and promote the continued development of healthy grass roots, while maintaining a lush green lawn.

Proper lawn fertilizing with balanced applications throughout the growing season promotes a thick, dense grass that can resist insects, diseases and weed invasions. Applying too much of any one of the basic elements can cause erratic results. For example, an over abundance of nitrogen will cause rapid growth of the grass blade that the root system cannot adequately support; the blades become long and spindly. Nutritional balance is the key to a thicker greener lawn.

Dry granular fertilizer with slow release nitrogen, for proper root development is complimented by liquid weed control applications to maintain the texture and color of your lawn, building a deep healthy root system.

Landscape Maintenance Tips

The following flower, mowing, watering, and other tips are helpful throughout the growing season.

Mowing

  • A lawn that is cut at one of the higher settings on your mower will have the ability to stay greener longer, requires less watering, and also prohibits weeds from emerging. Mowing too short starves the root system of your grass plants.

Flowers

  • Do not plant flowers around trees. Flowers generally require more water than trees. Supplying adequate water to the flowers may harm or stress your tree.
  • Do not plant flowers too close to the edge of plant beds. Flowers may be damaged during routine mowing operations.

Watering

  • The average lawn will need 1" of water per week. Water each area of your lawn long enough to soak the soil to a depth of 4 to 6 inches. Soaking the soil slowly, and to that depth, encourages a good, deep root system.
  • Water new seed/sod daily to keep the roots moist until the grass plants are established.

Trees and Shrubs

  • Water newly transplanted trees and shrubs by placing the hose on the soil line next to the trunk at a slow trickle. Soaker hoses, which slowly emit water through tiny holes, is another option to water newly planted trees and shrubs.
  • Prune flowering shrubs within 4 - 6 weeks after they are done flowering to insure normal flower production next year.
